Dr. Royce Jalazo is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in Police Psychology, which is the provision of psychological services for officers and their families. Dr. Jalazo is also trained to understand employees of various aspects of law enforecement work (e.g., 911 call operators, etc.). She is currently one of only two psychologists in the entire county selected and cleared to work with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office Employee Assistance Program, giving her the ability to provide psychological assistance for critical incident stress debriefing, psychoeducational information, and general psychotherapy services to any of the Broward Sheriff’s employees and their dependents.
Dr. Jalazo has obtained observational learning experiences that enable her to increase her actual knowledge of and empathic understanding of law enforcement employees. On a regular basis, she rides along with deputies as they protect and serve the public.
Dr. Jalazo completed a Doctor of Psychology Degree (Psy.D.) in 2002 from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and then continued her training around the country. She has helped hundreds of people looking for solutions for troubling aspects of their lives. Prior to establishing her own private practice, Dr. Jalazo worked in a variety of mental health settings in several states all over this country, to include: a long-term in-patient treatment facility for developmentally disabled adults suffering from schizophrenia (Wyoming), the inner-city schools (Elementary, Middle, and High Schools) of the Baltimore City Public School System (Maryland), two state psychiatric hospitals (Kentucky and North Carolina) as well as a stint as the Director of Mental Health for a men’s medium security prison in Florida.
These experiences have allowed Dr. Jalazo to assist a broad array of people in coping with a wide variety of issues. Dr. Jalazo provides psychotherapy services to adults and comprehensive psychological and psychoeducational assessments to both adults and children in the general population.
